2020 was a year without parallel. Sentiance started the year very strong, with the highest number of new clients coming on board. Since March 2020, however, we had to navigate with agility through an unprecedented pandemic, shifting and accelerating key priorities across our clients and our team. We stood firm in our values and commitments to our clients and our employees during this uncertain time. Let's take a look back on some of the successes and highlights of 2020 below.
Clients
The pandemic changed the way the world works across all industries. We are fortunate to work with many new global customers across the insurance, banking and mobility industries. Our customers were loyal, even while the pandemic slowed down many decision processes. Together, we worked on new products and services that meet our clients’ needs in this new world. The 4th quarter of 2020 has put us back on our breakthrough track with exciting new client contracts in family safety, insurance, retail banking and social media & services.
“It has been remarkable and motivating to work with clients who are as customer-obsessed as we are at Sentiance.” says Oliver Bath, Head of Client Services EMEA at Sentiance.
Partners
In addition to our partner RMC Softbank in Japan, we formed a new partnership with Wasistdas to support the Turkish market. Wasistdas is a bespoke business development and consulting firm in Turkey, and this partnership allows Sentiance to collaborate with local companies closely. Our partnership with Autoliv is resulting in one of our flagship products, the world’s best mobile crash detection (see further).
Product
This year we’ve made significant progress in building the “world’s best crash detection” and distracted driver coaching platform.
Our mobile-first crash detection is built together with our partner Autoliv, a global automotive safety leader. To achieve the best results, we conducted numerous tests in crash labs at high, medium and low speeds positioning phones in a variety of positions to account for real-world behavior.
We are also building our behavior change platform, starting with Driver Coaching. And we’re happy to announce that a few partners are working with us to roll out and iterate on our product, with a goal of significantly reducing distracted driving.
For 2021, we’re excited to take our crash detection offering to a wider market. We will continue improving our technology through our on-device roadmap and roll out an improved developer experience. We’re also going to announce some new features on our roadmap related to behavior change and our contextual decision engine.
Our People
Working from home has become work from anywhere. We do our best to support our team members through initiatives such as virtual coffee, extra food vouchers, and home-office support. In 2021, we are committed to putting even more effort into supporting the team's wellbeing, education, and personal development to keep the team happy and engaged. To win in the marketplace, we must first win in the workplace. Interested in joining us? Check out our career page today!
Recognition
Sentiance has been recognized with "InsurTech Product of the Year 2020" by TU-Automotive Connected Car Insurance in August. The prestigious TU-Automotive Connected Car Insurance awards celebrate the best talent, partnerships, innovative products and services across automotive technology every year.
In October, Sentiance was also selected as an "InsurTech 100" company by FinTech Global. The InsurTech100 is an annual list of the world’s most innovative InsurTech companies selected by a panel of industry experts and analysts. These are the companies every leader in the insurance industry needs to know about as they consider and develop their digital transformation strategies and customer propositions. A range of factors was considered to make the final selection, including company growth in terms of capital raised, revenue, customer traction; how innovative the technology solution is; impact on the value chain, etc.
These awards are a great recognition of the hard work and dedication of the Sentiance team, our partners and our clients.
A year of growth ahead
“We thank all of our clients and partners for their loyalty in 2020. We did amazing things together, and we're building on the road ahead," says Toon, CEO at Sentiance. "Despite the pandemic, we grew our number of clients and revenue significantly. We’re looking at 2021 in a very positive way. The way we work will not be the same as before, and nobody knows exactly how much different it will be in 12 to 24 months. But we learned that we can change our mobility behavior. We have seen the effect of the lockdown on our physical activity and the environment. This creates opportunities for a more sustainable and safer world. As a purpose-driven company, we will support our clients with our powerful platforms to create impact with innovative and profitable services whilst making people’s lives safer, healthier and more convenient.”
