ANTWERP, Belgium (January 26, 2018) - In Antwerp, the second largest city of Belgium, Olympus Mobility partnered with Sentiance and the center of expertise ‘Smart Mobility’ of the Antwerp Management School (AMS) to optimize the commuter experience by providing smart mobility recommendations via the Spitsmijden App.
The City of Antwerp addresses the growing challenge of traffic congestion and is encouraging the use of different models of transport aside from vehicles, such as train, bus, tram, biking, walking. The ‘Smart Mobility’ department of the Antwerp Management School (AMS) together with the technology players Olympus-Mobility and Sentiance’s technology is tailoring the travel experience to the individual’s needs and travel patterns by enabling smart mobility recommendations.
Sentiance analyses low location smartphone sensor data and converts the information into real-life and real-time behavioral mobility profiles, including rich insights into mobility, commute, and driving patterns. In a period of a couple of weeks, the mobility app learns the mobility patterns of the user and offers tailor-made mobility recommendations. These recommendations are available via using the Spitsmijden App.
Currently, the mobility behavior of AMS employees are being analyzed to offer them individual mobility advice. The goal is to further refine the methodology and then to implement this on a bigger scale in Antwerp in order to double the amount of current rush hour avoidance users. Companies can join and register their company online, to enable personalized and automated mobility advice for employees and companies.
Toon Vanparys, CEO of Sentiance, commented: ‘By placing the individual commuter at the center, the city of Antwerp is enabling mobility services tailored to the specific needs and travel patterns of the user while ensuring sustainable, more efficient and safe transportation.’
